Benefits Internship- Arcadia, Wisconsin 

*All interns are expected to work onsite at our Corporate office location in Arcadia, Wisconsin *

The Benefits Intern will assist in the administration of all employee benefit plans, including health, dental, life, and disability. They will serve as employee liaison with insurance organizations concerning claims and customer service issues pertaining to benefits. The Benefits Intern will also have the opportunity to assist in benefits orientation, 401k administration, life insurance administration, and benefits customer service. This position is accountable for the accuracy of 401k data, HRIS system data accuracy, compliance of benefit administration, ensuring employees understand benefit programs and ensuring site location Human Resources staff understand benefit information.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan administration including new employee orientation, enrollments, changes, cancellations, and benefit termination lists.
  • Provide customer service to employees on benefit plan in person and telephone support and intervene with third-party administrators as needed.
  • Provide administration of the company’s 401k plans.
  • Provide COBRA administration for continuance of health and dental insurance for participants who have lost coverage.
  • Prepare Certificates of Continuous Coverage
  • Prepare premium invoices for missed payroll deductions for employees who are on Leave of Absence.
  • Prepare and process life insurance claims.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned

Qualifications:
  • Pursuing a degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Public and Community Health, Finance, or related field. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs (Excel, Out, PowerPoint, Word)
  • A positive can-do attitude!
  • Strong communication skills and an attention to detail. 

Objectives

  • Gain an overall understanding of Ashley Furniture’s benefits and processes including but not limited to 401ks, life insurance administration, and healthcare benefits.
  • Learn how to utilize the HRIS.
  • Become acquainted with various departments including Human Resources and Payroll and learn how different roles play a part in benefits.
  • Obtain hands on experience and walk away with a solid foundation in benefits administration.
