The position of Finisher / Technician involves the maintenance and repair of new and damaged furniture by performing repairs, touch-ups, detailing, and furniture refinishing in the most efficient and cost effective manner. This position requires regular and recurring work situations with occasional periods of complex work. The incumbent operates from specific and definite directions and instructions, and performs duties with moderate supervision. Decisions are made within prescribed operating guidelines and company policy constraints. Each worker is solely responsible for individual written and verbal procedures/instructions. Work is checked by QC when each job is completed. Errors can result in inferior product which causes missed schedules and dollar loss for the company.
Distinguishing Features of the Work:
Complexity of work: Performs work of moderate difficulty. Positions repair scratches, dents, gouges, breaks and other defects in case and upholstered merchandise using a variety of tools and methods. Positions may perform related work such as service calls, shop and equipment maintenance, installation of furniture, record keeping and general house keeping.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge: Working knowledge of the finishing trade; the qualities and uses of materials and the application of work to the agencies operations program.
Skills: Skilled in the use of material applications, hand tools, industrial machines, and customer service applications.
Abilities: Demonstrated ability to make effective judgments, problem solving, continued self-development, and possess team ideals
Physical ability: The ability to stand for extended periods of time, bend, stoop, kneel, grasp and move freely throughout the facility. Ability to lift, carry, push, pull objects weighing up to 100 pounds on a consistent basis. Must possess good dexterity, hand/eye coordination and depth perception. Ability to work in excess of 8 hours per day and / or 40 per week. Ability to organize and coordinate work time with other responsibilities.
Education: Graduation from high school or equivalent.
Level and Type of Experience: Experience in finishing, woodworking or other skilled trade is a plus
