Systems Engineer IBM iSeries (AS400)- Advance, North Carolina
What Will You Do?
You will serve as the primary Systems Engineer for Ashley Furniture's IBM iSeries environment (7.4) and therefore must have extensive experience with IBM iSeries: hardware, software, configuration and maintenance, backup/recovery methodology, HA theory and practice, security management, troubleshooting, design/architecture and coding. This role, working closely with the IT Operations Manager, will help drive the technical direction for the iSeries environment as well as participating in technical projects and discussions.
What Do You Need?
·Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
·8 years of AS/400 systems administration and engineering experience is required.
·Advanced skill in troubleshooting and solving technically challenging problems involvingIBM iSeries-based performance, application and hardware issues. iSeries security, automation & development skills.
·Advanced experience using the following: Scripting, RPG, CL, HARRIS, Robot Scheduler, SQL Query and the configuration and use of Full System FlashCopy.
·Advanced expertise in application installation, Operating System upgrades and PTF maintenance.
·Knowledge of IBM iSeries networked systems, access and security guidelines and procedures.
·Understanding of ITIL to include (but not limited to), internal controls, continuous improvement and change management processes.
·Performance monitoring (using Robot Monitor and iDoctor tools), configuration and tuning – CPU, Memory and DASD allocations
·Communications (external connection) optimization and configuration
·Storage allocations, backups, restore and DR.
·New environment (LPAR) setup and configuration
·Web Services administration and configuration.
